Onyx Boox Go 10.3 Lumi Android 15 + Google Play

There is a new black and white e-paper e-reader and e-notebook on the market. Introducing the new Boox Go 10.3 Gen 2 Lumi with an adjustable front light with both warm and cool lighting.  The big selling points  is Google Android 15, which brings improved security features and smoother performance compared to Android 12, found on the first generation model. It also has a 300 PPI e-paper display, making reading a more visceral experience.  It has support for the  InkSense Plus stylus touch which provides 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity.

The Onyx Boox Go Lumi both feature a 10.3" HD ePaper glass screen with flat cover-lens with a resolution of 2480x1860 and 300 PPI.The base model Gen 2 and first generation Go 10.3 both do not have a front-lit display both the Go Lumi does. There is a series of white and amber LED lights to provide warm and cool lighting providing users the ability to mix between the two.

The Lumi model is also slightly lighter at 364 grams compared to the Gen 1's 375 grams, despite adding a front light, although it is 0.2 mm thicker. The base model is the lightest at 360 grams and measures 4.6 mm thick, the same as the original. Aside from the front light and minor weight changes, the rest of the hardware remains unchanged.

Underneath the the hood, the Go 10.3 Gen 2 series is a  octa-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal storage. There is WIFI and Bluetooth 5.1, and stereo speakers to make listening to audiobooks, music or podcasts. A single microphone is available to take audio to text notes, but also for voice communication apps such as Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp or Discord. A USB-C port is used for charging and is powered by a 3,700 mAh battery.

The main operating system is Google Android 15 and since this is an international release, it has full support for the Google Play Store. Onyx Boox has heavily optimized a few apps to have no animations and provide an excellent experience. This includes Amazon Kindle, Eevrnote and Microsoft One Note. Users can sideload in their own e-books via USB and can be read on the main Neoreader app. Supported formats include PDF, CAJ, DJVU, CBR, CBZ, EPUB, EPUB3, AZW3, MOBI, TXT, DOC, DOCX, FB2, CHM, RTF, HTML, ZIP, PRC, PPT, PPTX.
